  4. journey N to S from Alaska to Cape Horn,
  5. crossing the Darien Gap between Panama and
  6. Colombia for the first time 1971-72; and the
  7. first complete navigation of the Zaire River,
  8. Africa 1974-75. From 1963 he organized
  9. adventure training at Sandhurst military
  10. academy. He was director of Operation Drake
  11. 1977-81 and Operation Raleigh 1978-82. His
  12. books include A Taste for Adventure 1978.
